Polka dot Foundation
Partner Dance Centre
Polka dot Foundation is an independent organization created by artists associated with the Gdańsk dance scene - Ula Zerek, Katarzyna Pastuszak, Katarzyna Chmielewska, Katarzyna Ustowska. The Foundation deals with the development and promotion of the art of dance and choreography in cooperation with artists and cultural institutions. The Foundation's goal is to build a new dimension of dialogue in which dance is a basic language in the sphere of culture, social life, education and artistic exchange. The Foundation inaugurated its activity in 2018. The first project being implemented is the "Heart of the Factory" in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the European Solidarity Center and Tabacka Kulturfabrik. Polka dot together with the Institute of Music and Dance will be the organizer of the Polish Dance Platform in Gdansk on September 5-8, 2019.
We created Polka dot from the need to combine forces, innovative thinking and action in culture and art. We are independent artists and activists. We are connected by dance and Gdańsk connects us. We want to launch a creative exchange space between dance and other areas of life. Drawing from our previous experience and potential, we propose a new quality of the presence of dance in the sphere of art, social life and at the interface between culture and business. Our artistic and educational activities will allow building strong relationships in communities and developing artists' partnerships with cultural institutions and organizations for whom dance can be the language of the future.
